The Illawarra Grammar School (TIGS) is an Anglican day school for boys and girls aged 3 years to Year 12, centrally located in Wollongong. Welcoming families from across the Illawarra region for more than 60 years, a TIGS education is firmly grounded in an authentic Christian faith, fostering a culture of compassion and contribution.
The Illawarra Grammar School takes students from strength to strength, in life and in learning. Stretching minds, training bodies, caring for others and growing in faith, our students build on the learnings of the day before, growing stronger each day.
We believe a good education is not solely about examination scores. School should be about much more than a number. A TIGS education empowers a new generation of leaders with a set of skills and intelligences that a curriculum education alone cannot provide.
The Illawarra and the world need strong leaders. Strong leaders need a strong school.
Our dedicated staff motivate students to become strong scholars who achieve their potential. A foundation of rigorous academic learning is complemented with opportunities across a broad curriculum, guiding each student’s holistic development spiritually, intellectually, socially and physically. Students can tailor their learning to pursue their unique talents and interests across an extensive co-curricular programme encompassing art, sport, Christian service, outdoor education and cultural experiences.
Community, care and compassion are vital to the wellbeing of our students. Our Director of Life and Learning works closely with teaching staff to ensure every child is being supported, and that our pastoral care creates an environment where students can achieve their best, knowing they are safe and supported. TIGS House system, mentoring and leadership programmes foster camaraderie and a strong culture of support among our student community, where the effort of every student is encouraged and celebrated. This strong sense of connection and belonging is vital to each students’ positive outcomes both personally and academically.
Future leaders need future-focused learning environments. Agile classrooms, music studios, photography studios, and a flexible multi-use school hall ensure our students have the tools and experience required to succeed throughout their education and throughout life.
We welcome enquiries for students seeking to commence in our Preparatory Programme (3-5 years of age), Junior School (Kindergarten to Year 6) or Senior School (Year 7 to Year 12).
