Canteen

Students at TlGS can order their lunch from the Canteen or purchase it over the counter. TIGS uses www.flexischools.com.au for an online lunch ordering service.

Communication

The School uses two online platforms to manage communication and provide access to information ‑ OLLE and Consent2Go.  From submitting consent to attend excursions, to recording school attendance, or finding information on upcoming events, we have covered all bases to ensure there is a regular stream of communication between the school and our students and families.

  • New parents will receive login information to access these platforms prior to commencement.

  • New students will receive access to OLLE upon commencement.

OLLE

OLLE is a powerful online learning environment resource that allows easy access to information needed to care for each student individually. OLLE allows parents to access information about their child/ren in a convenient and timely manner.  Information available includes student timetables, assessment tasks, academic reporting, student absences, school news and notices.

OLLE can be accessed via the TIGS Portal using your password from any computer with internet access. You can also change your password from the link on the TIGS Portal https://portal.tigs.nsw.edu.au/#parent

OLLE is also available in the App Store on all mobile devices.

Consent2Go

At TIGS, we don’t send our students home with handwritten notes or permission slips. The simple platform Consent2Go, helps us automate the process and makes it easier for parents to view upcoming events, excursions and incursions and submit their child’s permissions online. Parents can also update their contact details via Consent2Go. It’s as simple as 1, 2, 3.

Private Music Lessons

At The Illawarra Grammar School we have a team of experienced instrumental tutors who can enhance and strengthen your child’s proficiency and love of music. Music, like sport, needs practise and a coach or mentor who can offer a helping hand to unravel its complexities.

We offer private lessons across a wide variety of instruments; a full list is detailed in the application form below.

Lessons are conducted on campus throughout the school day, with some tutors also offering before and after school options.

For 2024, we ask any families wishing to participate to complete the online application form.

Please do not hesitate to contact the Tutor Coordinator, Ms Rowena Harris, via email if you have any questions regarding the Tuition Programme: instrumentaltutors@tigs.nsw.edu.au.

Textbooks and stationery

Campion helps to provide TIGS students with a streamlined service to purchase textbooks and other resources. Textbook orders will be delivered by courier to your home or work address as directed by you. When ordering via the Campion website, please use the TIGS code is 3RKD.

The calculator required for Mathematics at TIGS is the Casio FX8200AU.  This can be purchased via Campion or at Officeworks.

Technology

At TIGS, we believe there is no substitute for sound teaching and learning practices but we also recognise the importance of technology. As we prepare students for life in the 21st century we must equip them with the skills to utilise technology responsibly and empower them for lifelong learning.

To do this effectively, we have adopted a ‘Bring Your Own Device’ (BYOD) policy for students in Years 7 to 12. We believe that placing the technology of choice into the hands of our students provides the opportunity for individualised learning, increases independence, and promotes self-initiated learning within and beyond the classroom.

The BYOD policy allows students to use the device with which they are most comfortable and with which learning will be most effective. Recognising the importance of choice, we do not recommend specific brands and models of devices.

On commencement, student laptops will need to be connected to TIGS wireless and a security certificate installed. TIGS needs Administrator Access to each student’s laptop to achieve this. Please ensure that:

  • Students have administrative rights to their computers to install crucial programmes at school.
  • Students’ accounts are changed to an admin account or a new account is created for them that has admin rights.

Further information on the minimum requirements to which each device should conform can be found below.

Transport

We offer a variety of convenient transport options to assist in bringing your child to and from school each day. Need help to determine which service is right for you?

Chartered buses

Chartered buses operate through many areas from Tarrawanna to Kiama.  All services are for TIGS students only and can be accessed with an OPAL card.

The School operates a free late private bus service for Senior School students, leaving the School at 5.00pm from the Illawarra Grammar Centre (Powell Street entrance). This service operates from Monday to Thursday and is free of charge, however, bookings are essential.

For students travelling north, this service travels along the Princes Highway to Austinmer (with drop off at Austinmer shops and railway station), stopping at all fixed bus stops on the route.

For students southbound, this service travels along the expressway to Yallah (being the first drop-off point) then continues along the Princes Highway to Kiama (Hindmarsh Park) and the railway station. Registrations for TIGS late afternoon bus service can be made below.
